First Commercial Cellular/Mobile Network (1G).

The first commercial Cellular/Mobile Network (1G) was launched in Tokyo, Japan in 1979 by Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT). By 1984, 1G network covered all of Japan, making it the first country to have cellular/mobile network.

Later 1G network introduced in Sweden and Norway in 1981. In USA 1G network introduced in 1983.

The First 1G Phone

The first phone that used the 1G cellular network was TZ-801 built by Panasonic in 1979. It is the car mobile phone (Not handheld mobile phone).

First Handheld Mobile/cell Phone.

The first mobile phone was the Motorola DynaTac 8000X. This mobile phone was demonstrated by Martin Cooper on April 3, 1973.

After 10 years in 1983 US FCC approved it and Motorola launched it for commercial use in 1984 at price of 3,995$.

This phone was 23cm (9inches) tall and weighed 1.1kg (2.5punds). It had 35 minutes of battery life after 10 hours of charging.

Motorola DynaTAC 8000X

The First International Roaming (Cellular Network).

The first international roaming cellular network (1G) was The Nordic Mobile Telephony (NMT), which allowed limited roaming between Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Norway in early 1980s.

NMT was existed in two versions NMT-450 and NMT-900.

Mobira Senator was first mobile phone (car phone) based on NMT (NMT-450).
