We usually discuss about big things present in world like tallest building, longest river, biggest animal etc. but there are many small wonders are present but usually we don’t discuss about them.
So in todays blog we will talk about these neglected wonders.
Smallest bird
Bee hummingbird (Mellisuga helenae) is the smallest bird alive. It is a species of hummingbird, which is only found in Cuba.
Females are slightly larger than males. Females generally weigh 2.6gm and are 6.1cm long. On the other hand males weigh of 1.9gm and are 5.5cm long.
Smallest mammal
Two species of mammals are considered as smallest mammal alive.
The Etruscan shrew (Suncus etruscus) is the smallest known extant (alive) mammal by body mass, weighing only about 1.8gm on average. They are found in Europe, North Africa, Malaysia and Maltese islands.
Smallest sea
The Sea of Marmara is the smallest true sea in the world. It is located in Turkey and connects the Black sea and Aegean sea (part of Mediterranean sea).
It is only 175 miles (280km) long and around 50 miles (80km) wide at its widest point.
Smallest satellite
Kalamsat-V2 holds the record of being the smallest satellite ever to be put into orbit. It is an amateur communication satellite, developed by Space Kidz India and launched by ISRO on 24 January 2019 and taken to its designated orbit (higher circular orbit of 453km) about 1 hour and 40 minutes after lift of.
Kalamsat-V2 is a 10cm cube satellite weighing 1260gm. It was used for testing the performance of newly modified systems. Power is provided by the lithium ion batteries, which can operate for about 15 hours. It is self powered by its own solar cells.
Smallest car
The Peel P50 is a three wheeled microcar originally made from 1962 to 1965 and again from 2010 to the present, by the Peel Engineering Company. It was listed in the 2010 Guinness World Records as the smallest production (street legal) car ever made.
This car is 54 in (1,372mm) long and 39 in (991mm) wide.
Bumblebee bat (Craseonycteris thanglongyai) is the smallest mammal (alive) by size (length). It is small at about 29mm to 33mm (1.1 to 1.3 inch) in length.
